Roofshire Construction installs and replaces flooring in homes across greater Houston. Sometimes that is a straightforward job: the old floor is worn out, dated or simply not what you want any more, and you want something new put down. Other times the floor is one piece of a bigger project, a room being remodeled from the subfloor up, or a space being put back together after water came through the roof.
A new floor changes how a room looks and feels more than almost anything else you can do to it. It is also the surface that takes the most wear, from the front door to the kitchen to the hallway everyone walks down. Getting it right is mostly about two things: picking a floor that suits how the room is really used, and putting it down on a sound base.
Whatever brought you here, the first step is the same. We come out, look at the room and the floor you have now, measure, and give you a free estimate.

Flooring Work We Do
Replacing worn or dated floors
If the floor you have is tired, scratched or just not your taste, replacing it changes a room more than almost anything else. We take up the old flooring, fix what we find underneath and install the new floor. We tell you what we find along the way.
Flooring as part of an interior remodel
Most remodels touch the floor. When the walls, the ceiling and the floor are all changing, the order matters, because a new floor should not take a beating from the rest of the job. Running the floor as part of an interior remodel means one contractor is keeping track of that order for you.
One room or several
Some jobs are a single bedroom. Others run through several rooms and a hallway, where the new floor has to meet the rooms around it. We talk through where the new floor starts and stops, and how it meets the floors you are keeping, before we price the job.
Choosing a floor
Whatever floor you have in mind, we will talk through the options before we price it: how it fits the way the room is used, how it handles a wet entryway or a busy hallway, and what it does to the budget. You pick the floor. Our job is to give you straight answers and install it properly.
Questions to Think About Before You Choose
There is no single right floor for every house. A few questions narrow it down quickly, and we will go through them with you at the estimate visit.
- Who uses the room, and how? Kids, pets and a door to the backyard put a floor through more than a guest bedroom does.
- Does the room get wet? Entryways, laundry areas and rooms near an outside door see water that a living room does not.
- How does it meet the next room? Where one floor stops and another starts is worth deciding before the work begins.
- What is the budget? A range up front lets us talk about where the money does the most good.
- Are you staying in the house during the work? If so, think about which rooms you can do without for a while, and where the furniture will go.
What sits under the floor matters as much as what goes on top. When the old flooring comes up, we look at the subfloor for soft spots, stains and unevenness, because any of those can show through or loosen the new floor later. We tell you what we find.
When Water From Above Damaged the Floor
A roof leak does not always announce itself on the ceiling first. Sometimes the first sign is a dark spot on the carpet, a board that has started to cup, or flooring that sounds different underfoot near an outside wall. Replacing that floor without dealing with the leak means doing it again, so we find and fix the source first. If you are not sure where the water came from, start with a free roof inspection. That might lead to a roof repair, or a sign the roof needs replacing. If storm damage caused the leak and you are considering an insurance claim, we explain how the claim process works. Whether to file is your decision, and the claim is between you and your insurance company.
If the house got soaked, it has to be dried out by a water-mitigation company before any new floor goes in. Once the area is dry and the roof has been repaired or replaced, we take out the damaged flooring and put the room back together. If the ceiling above took water too, our drywall work can be part of the same job.
