Drywall is the surface you look at every day, so damage to it is hard to ignore: a brown ring on the ceiling after a storm, a hole where a doorknob hit the wall, a crack that keeps running along a tape joint, or a corner that got knocked in on moving day. Roofshire Construction repairs and installs drywall in homes across greater Houston, from a single patch to the walls and ceilings of a remodeled room.
We are a roofing contractor first, with a general contracting side that covers the inside of the house too. That matters most when the drywall damage came from water, and there is a section on that below. Plenty of drywall work has nothing to do with the roof, though, and we take those jobs just the same.
Whatever the job, it starts with a free estimate. You deal with one team, and we stay in touch at every step until it is done.

Drywall Work We Do
Ceiling stains and water-damaged drywall
A water stain on its own is sometimes cosmetic once the leak is stopped and the board has dried. A ceiling that is soft, bowed, crumbling at the edges or pulling away from the screws is different. That board has lost its strength and needs to come out. We repair the damaged section and finish it.
Patches and small repairs
Holes, dents, nail pops, cracked tape joints and dinged outside corners are quick fixes on their own, and they are worth doing while a crew is already in the house for something bigger. We size the patch to the damage, then tape, mud and finish it.
New drywall for remodels
When a room is being reworked, the drywall goes up after the framing is in. We hang, tape, finish and prep the board for paint as part of the same job, so the room is ready for trim and flooring without a second contractor stepping in. Larger projects that touch several rooms are covered on our interior remodeling page.
Walls and ceilings
Ceiling work and wall work are not quite the same job. Ceilings are overhead, harder to reach and usually where water damage shows first. Walls take the knocks from doors, furniture and daily life. Tell us which you are dealing with and roughly how big the area is when you call, and we will know what to look at when we come out.
Signs the Drywall Needs to Come Out, Not Just Be Painted
Not every stain or crack means new board. A few things decide it.
- A dry, firm stain. Once the source is fixed, a stain-blocking primer and paint may be enough.
- Sagging or bowing between joists. The board has lost its strength and needs replacing.
- A soft or crumbling surface. Press on it gently. If it gives or flakes, it has to come out.
- Peeling or bubbling paper face. The board took on water, and paint struggles to hold on it.
- Tape seams that have let go. Sometimes a repair, sometimes a sign of something bigger behind it.
- A stain that keeps growing after rain. Water is still getting in, and the source needs fixing before anything else.
If you are not sure which one you are looking at, that is what the free estimate is for.
When the Water Came Through the Roof
Water does not drip straight down from where it gets in. It can enter at a cracked pipe boot, a lifted shingle, worn flashing around a chimney or a wall, or a spot where hail broke the surface, then travel along the underside of the decking before it finds a low point. The stain on your ceiling can sit several feet away from the actual hole, and patching drywall under an active leak only means paying for the same patch twice. So when water is the reason you called, we find and fix the source first, with a roof repair or whatever the roof needs.
Our roof inspection is free. We get on the roof, look at the area above the stain, and show you what we find. If the roof was hit by a storm and the damage is spread across it, we explain what that means and how storm damage roofing works, including how the insurance claim process works. The claim is between you and your insurance company, and you decide whether to file. Once the roof is sound, we replace what is damaged inside and finish it.
