The Woodlands has been building houses since 1974, when the first village, Grogan’s Mill, opened. That means a homeowner here can own anything from a house built in the 1970s to one finished a few years ago, and the remodel that makes sense depends a lot on which one you have. An older house may still carry its original bathroom. A newer one may just have a room that never worked for the way you live.
Roofshire Construction does home remodeling in The Woodlands as part of our work across greater Houston. The Woodlands is straight up I-45 from our office in north Houston, so a remodel here gets the same crew and the same plain approach as a job anywhere else we work.
Every remodel starts with a visit. We walk the room with you, listen to what you want it to be, and give you a free estimate that spells out the work before anything comes apart.

Home Remodeling Work We Take On in The Woodlands
Most remodels are not one trade. A room usually needs some mix of walls, floors and finish work, and running them as one project keeps the schedule straight. Here is what that covers.
Bathroom remodels
A bathroom is a remodel a customer has hired us for. We talk through what you want to keep and what you want gone, then price the job before work starts, so you know what you are agreeing to.
Rooms reworked from the studs
Squaring up an old room or rebuilding a damaged wall is framing work, and we do it as part of the remodel instead of sending you to a second contractor. Once the framing is right, the walls go up and the room comes back together.
Walls and ceilings
New drywall, hung, taped and finished, is the backbone of most remodels. It is also where a roof leak shows first, which matters more under the Woodlands canopy than in most places.
New floors
A new floor changes a room more than almost anything else. We install flooring on its own or as the last step of a remodel, after the walls and ceiling are done, so the new floor does not take a beating from the rest of the job.
The full picture of how we handle the inside of a house is on our interior remodeling page.
Remodeling a Home Under the Pines
Most houses in The Woodlands sit under a heavy canopy of pines and hardwoods. Needles pile up in roof valleys and pack the gutters, and limbs come down in a strong wind. When water finds its way past the roof, it often shows up inside first, as a brown ring on a ceiling or drywall that has gone soft.
If that is why you are remodeling, fix the roof before the room. Ceiling stains do not always sit right under the opening in the roof, because water runs along the decking and the top of the drywall before it drips. A new ceiling under an active leak gets ruined again after the next heavy rain. A free roof inspection finds where the water is getting in, and from there it is a roof repair or a roof replacement.
If a storm caused the damage and you are thinking about an insurance claim, we explain how the claim process works. Whether to file is your decision, and the claim is between you and your insurer. If water is standing in the house or materials are soaked through, a water-mitigation company needs to dry it out first. Once the room is dry, we take it from there.
The Township and Your Remodel
The Woodlands is governed as a township, and its Residential Development Standards cover changes to the outside of a house. A roof replacement or a repaint needs approval, as our Woodlands roofing page explains.
A remodel that stays inside the walls is a different kind of job. If any part of your plan changes what the house looks like from outside, check the standards for your village before the work starts. Tell us about that at the estimate visit, so the timing of the job leaves room for it.
Planning the Room Before the Estimate
You do not need a finished design to call us, but a few decisions made ahead of the visit make the estimate more useful.
- What bothers you about the room now. A dated look, worn surfaces, damage, or a layout that does not work. Each one leads to a different scope.
- What stays. Sometimes the floor or the walls are fine and only part of the room needs work.
- The look you want. Photos of rooms you like are a good starting point for finishes and colors.
- A budget range. Knowing it up front lets us talk about where the money does the most good.
- Timing. If you have a date in mind, tell us, so we can plan the work around it.
We look at the room with you, answer what we can on the spot, and then give you a free estimate. If something you want is outside the work we do, we say so at the visit.
What a Remodel With Roofshire Looks Like
We come out, measure, and look at the ceiling, walls and floor. You get a free estimate that spells out the work. Once the job starts, we stay in touch at every step until it is done, so you are never guessing what happens tomorrow. When the room is finished, the crew cleans up the site and we make sure you are happy with the result.
